The role

This is a great opportunity to build a successful career in Laser Engineering, solving complex engineering problems on a variety of development projects. We’re looking for people that are passionate about technology and who want to expand their horizons in an exciting and fast-moving area of the technology industry.

As a Laser Engineer within Luxinar’s Technology and Innovation R&D team, you will be responsible for the research, design, development of optical and laser systems and devices for the Company’s new range of High Average power Ultrashort pulse laser products. You will investigate new technologies and engineering capabilities to address emerging business opportunities. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of developing laser designs and will apply computational modelling techniques supporting the development of new products and applications. This work will be underpinned by conducting practical work

This role involves working in a multidisciplinary team and provides the unique opportunity to influence the progress, direction and successful delivery of the next generation of the Company’s lasers.

What you’ll need to bring

  • A minimum of 3 years experience working in a laser product development and/or laser applied research environment.
  • Degree qualified (minimum) or related Master’s degree/PhD/EngD (preferred) e.g. Physics with a significant laser design content
  • Experience working in a laser research and development or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the design, characterisation and manufacture of lasers using appropriate commercial tools.
  • An advanced understanding of laser physics and a detailed understanding of solid-state laser engineering.
  • An appreciation of the mechanical and electrical design aspects of laser systems.
  • Strong analytical, modelling skills and good laboratory skills are beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
